AssayMetrics Ltd, a Cardiff, UK-based designer and developer of a prototype plate reader instrument for use in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, has secured an equity investment of undisclosed amount.
Investors include Finance Wales and a syndicate of business angels.
The capital will be used to commercialise the prototype.
The company, which was formed in 2004 by Dr. Pierre Graves, launched its first products, chemical dye reagents used within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries for compound screening, two years later. Subsequently, the company developed its own novel fluorescent dye reagents – PURETIME®.
The development of a plate reader instrument was a natural progression for the company – The addition of an analytical instrumentation technology to its existing dye based products has allowed the company to develop the plate reader.
According a press release, a number of existing and new customers have already expressed a wish to act as beta test sites for the new plate reader.
