Kontagent, a San Francisco, CA-based social web analytics company, has raised over $4m as part of its latest round of funding.
The investment, which was led by Altos Ventures and Maverick Capital, with participation from Larry Braitman, co-founder of FlyCast and Adify, brings the total amount raised by the company to nearly $6m to date. These new partners join existing angels and funds that include:
– Jameson Hsu, co-founder and CEO of Mochimedia,
– James Hong, co-founder and CEO of HotOrNot,
– Benjamin Sun, co-founder and CEO of CommunityConnect,
– Auren Hoffman, founder and CEO of RapLeaf,
– Greg Thomson, founder of TallTreeGames
– Mike Sego, chief product officer of Gaia Online,
– Mike Sego, chief product officer of Gaia Online,
– Facebook Fund,
– The Hit Forge
– Extreme Venture Partners.
In conjunction with the funding, Anthony Lee from Altos Ventures and Eric Kim from Maverick Capital will be joining Kontagent’s board.
Founded in 2007 by serial entrepreneurs Jeffrey Tseng and Albert Lai, Kontagent develops a viral analytics platform, which is deployed by social game and app developers on Facebook.
The company will use the capital to extend its technology platform (that currently tracks over 60 million users monthly) and increase its sales and marketing efforts. Kontagent is hiring and expanding its engineering, sales and marketing teams in both its offices, in San Francisco and Toronto, Ontario.
