10gen, a Redwood Shores, CA- and New York, NY-based open-source software company developing the non-relational database MongoDB, has completed a $6.5m financing round.
The investment was led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from existing backers Flybridge Capital Partners and Union Square Ventures.
MongoDB, an open-source non-relational database (NoSQL) for building agile applications, enables startups and large companies to deploy it for a broad set of use cases that includes content management, event logging, web data storage, and real time analytics. It has been deployed at large-scale in companies including bit.ly, foursquare, IGN, and SourceForge.
Founded in 2007, 10gen also provides commercial support, training, and other services for MongoDB.
