Basis Science Raises $11.5M in Series B Funding

Basis Science Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based startup developing a wrist-based health tracker and online platform, has raised $11.5m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Mayfield Fund, with participation from existing investors DCM and Norwest Venture Partners.

In conjunction with the funding, Tim Chang, Managing Director at Mayfield, joined Basis’ board of directors.

Led by Jef Holove, CEO, Basis designed a wrist-based health tracker and an online personal dashboard to help users incorporate healthy habits into their daily routine. It leverages different types of advanced sensors to calculate steps taken, calories burned and sleep quality, as well as physiological metrics like heart rate.

The company, which also added healthy living expert Deepak Chopra, and technology analyst Esther Dyson to its board of advisors, is currently hiring (read here).
