Treehouse Island Closes $7M Series B Financing

Treehouse Island, an Orlando, Florida-based online coding education platform, closed a $7m Series B financing.

The round was led by Kaplan Ventures, with participation from The Social+Capital Partnership.

In conjunction with the funding, Kate Eberle Walker, Vice President for Corporate Investment and Strategy at Kaplan Ventures — the investment subsidiary of Kaplan, Inc. will join the company’s Board.

Led by Ryan Carson, Founder and CEO, Treehouse employs a full-time teaching staff made up of experienced professionals who develop proprietary, instructional content rather than utilizing crowd-sourced methods.
The company recently reached the customer milestone of 25,000 active students, who can access a variety of educational offerings, including virtual video teaching, coding live in the web browser with Treehouse Code Challenges, and learning by doing with Treehouse Console.
