Curious.com, Inc., a Menlo Park, CA-based newly launched marketplace for lifelong learning, raised $7.5m in funding.
The round was led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from individual investors Bill Campbell, Jesse Rogers and co-founder Justin Kitch.
CO-founded 2012 by Kitch, Thai Bui, (CTO), and John Tokash (Head of Engineering), Curious.com enables to students and teachers to connect around varied subjects including salsa dancing, integral solving, pipe soldering, jewelry making and knife sharpening.
The platform provides teachers with the “Curious Lesson Builder”, which allows them to build, publish and market informative and entertaining lessons. It also links related lessons, tracks how many views a lesson has received and enables learners to create “Curious Cards” to share their achievements and interact with teachers.
Teachers can work with students on a highly personal level to answer questions, review projects and provide feedback. They also have tools to market, share and monetize their lessons as well as interact with their students.
