Dropcam, Inc., a San Francisco-based developer of a Wi-Fi video monitoring camera with cloud recording service, raised $30m in Series C funding.
The round was led by Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), with participation from existing investors Accel Partners and Menlo Ventures, and new investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the engineering team, broaden its product line and expand into new sales channels.
Founded in 2009 by CEO Greg Duffy and Aamir Virani, Dropcam makes Dropcam HD, a Wi-Fi video monitoring camera and an optional cloud recording service that allows users to remotely drop in on houses, baby, pets, business, etc. from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
Dropcam HD, which includes full 720p streaming, night vision, two-way talk back, and digital zoom, is available on Amazon and dropcam.com for $149.
