CharityStars, a Milan, Italy-based auction platform for experiences with celebrities, raised approx. €1m in equity and debt funding.
Equity backers included Leopoldo Seralvo, Federico Nordio, Niccolò Ragnini, Luca Carrante, Angelomario Moratti and Gilda Moratti.
In addition, Unicredit provided €290k in debt financing.
The company intends to use the funds to expand abroad, initially in the UK, where it recently opened an office and partnered with Liverpool FC, Southampton and Manchester City.
Co-founded in June 2013 by Francesco Nazari Fusetti, Manuela Ravalli and Domenico Gravagno, CharityStars offers auctions on objects owned by and experiences with stars and celebrities to support non profit inititiatives from such organizations as Fondazione Telethon, Save the Children, Emergency and others.
In 2013, the company won 360 Capital Partners’ 360by360 Competition. In 2015, it launched “Livebidding”, an app that allows people to make offers during events via tablets and smartphones.
