Beam Dental Raises $5.5M in Series B Funding

Beam Dental, a Columbus, OH–based dental benefits company, raised $5.5m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Lewis & Clark Ventures with participation from Drive Capital. In conjunction with the funding, Ron Watson, a principal at Lewis & Clark Ventures, joined Beam’s board of directors.

The capital will be used to accelerate expansion into new markets.

Led by Alex Frommeyer, Co-Founder and CEO, Beam Dental provides dental benefits for small and medium-sized businesses. It offers employers of all sizes a new approach to dental insurance coverage by incorporating dental hygiene behavior into policy pricing. The company’s dental insurance policies include Perks, a quarterly subscription service with an electric toothbrush, replacement heads, paste, and floss for every insured member.
Beam recently announced its partnership with VSP to deliver a vision insurance solution to the market as well.

The company currently markets its dental and vision insurance products in California, Texas, Illinois, Arizona, Ohio, Colorado, Washington, Utah, Wisconsin, and Kentucky, although Beam’s network of dentists is nationwide.
