Fairygodboss, a NYC-based career community for women, raised $10m in Series A funding.
The round was led by GSV Accelerate and Signal Peak Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds to enhance its product and expand its team.
Led by Georgene Huang and Romy Newman, Fairygodboss provides women with solutions to get hard-to-ask questions on pay, corporate culture, benefits and work flexibility. The company offers:
– company ratings,
– job listings,
– discussion boards, and
– career advice.
The company’s story began when CEO Georgene Huang was suddenly fired from her executive role as part of a management shake-up — and found herself unexpectedly looking for a job while two months pregnant.
While interviewing, she wanted to ask certain questions — like, is work-life balance enabled at this company? Are women paid and promoted fairly? What’s the maternity leave policy? — but feared being stigmatized. She looked online for answers but had no luck. So, she started the FGB community.
Today, women use FGB to connect with each other, browse jobs, read women’s company reviews, and get advice as part of the largest career community for women.
