Unruly Studios, a Boston, MA-based startup empowering children ages 6+ to learn critical STEM and coding skills through active, recess-style play, raised $1.8M in seed funding.
The round was led by eCoast Angels, with participation from the Amazon Alexa Fund, AT&T, Rough Draft Ventures powered by General Catalyst, Techstars, LearnLaunch, NextFab, and other New England Angel Funds.
The company intends to use the funds to grow the team and build a user community to continue to expand its footprint globally.
Led by Bryanne Leeming, CEO and Founder, Unruly Studios creates products that engage kids with coding through active, recess-style play. Unruly Splats are durable floor buttons that light up, play sounds, and can be programmed by kids with a paired tablet. The app comes preloaded with recess-style games to help kids continually build their coding skills on their own.
Unruly Splats are compatible with Apple iPad, Android tablets, and Chromebooks, with additional integrations coming soon.
