UK-based Argus Media, an international energy price reporting agency, has acquired the Energy Market Report, a daily publication based in Portland, Oregon.
The Energy Market Report, which has been published by Economic Insight since 1994, contains spot market prices and analysis for electricity markets throughout the US and Canada.
Following the launch of natural gas indexes last July, the acquisition gives Argus the opportunity to cover all the major energy markets in North America. It already provides pricing data on coal, emissions, crude and refined oil products.
Commenting on the deal, Argus chairman and chief executive Adrian Binks said: “We designed the Energy Market Report to capture the relationship between energy markets, particularly natural gas and electricity”.
Argus is headquartered in London and has offices in Houston, Washington, New York, Calgary, Portland, Dubai, Singapore, Tokyo, Beijing, Sydney, Moscow, Astana, Kiev and other key centres of the energy industry.
