Ontario Government is supporting a Toronto-based manufacturer produce innovative alcohol detection products.
The province is providing a grant of $3.15m from the Next Generation of Jobs Fund in support of Alcohol Countermeasure Systems’ total investment of approximately $18m over the next four years towards the project, which will create 105 new jobs at the company. Some of the studies will be conducted at Ontario universities and this fact will create further learning and growth opportunities for researchers and students.
Alcohol Countermeasure Systems is developing new technology and expanding production of alcohol interlock systems. When installed, these systems prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver’s blood alcohol concentration exceeds a pre-determined level.
According to the last figures, the Next Generation of Jobs Fund has leveraged over $1.6bn in investment and secured more than 3,800 jobs over the next five years.
