NearVerse, a Philadelphia, PA-based mobile networking company, secured $1m in seed funding from Meakem Becker Venture Capital in Q4 2009.
The company has been using the funding to develop its software-based networking platform to further accelerate mobile Internet speeds beyond current capabilities of 3G or 4G carrier networks.
NearVerse is also hiring talented engineers to develop its technology and service offering.
Founded in 2009 by Boris Bogatin and Vic Singh, the company has already launched its first app, LoKast for iPhone and iPod touch.
LoKast allows users to discover and share rich media content including music, photos, videos, contacts and web links, with other, proximate users.
In conjunction with the funding, Glen Meakem and Alan Veeck of Meakem Becker Venture Capital joined the company’s board.
