CloudMade, a Menlo Park, CA-based developer of a mapping platform and tools enabling developers and organizations to create innovative geo-enabled products, has raised $12.3m in a Series B funding round.
The round was led by new investor Greylock Partners, with participation from existing backer Sunstone Capital.
The company will use the funds to continue to build its map and geo database, and serve this data to developers, device manufacturers and mobile operators through its comprehensive mapping platform.
In addition, the capital infusion will allow CloudMade to continue to develop its suite of consumer mapping products, Mapzen (http://mapzen.cloudmade.com/).
Juha Christensen, CEO and Chairman of the company, was quoted as saying: “This new funding will enable us to significantly expand our support to developers and businesses in building and monetizing apps, products and services that use maps and location.
“We’re thrilled to have additional backing from Sunstone and a new investment from Greylock and look forward to leveraging their joint expertise”, she added.
Developers’ apps include Skobbler, OffMaps, Geocaching, Trails, Ride the City and GayCities.
The company operates offices in London, UK, and Kiev, Ukraine.
