Eyes and More, a Dutch optical chain, has raised €12m from Vendis Capital.
As a result of the transaction, Vendis Capital is taking a majority interest in the company, whose management will maintain a significant minority interest.
The investment is designed to support the growth plan of Eyes and More, which was formed in 2005 by Ad Mathijssen and Eric Ezendam, each of whom at that time already had 20 years of experience in the optical sector.
The company offers a choice from 1500 fashionable frames at a single fixed low price, including scratch-resistant, extra-thin and super non-reflective lenses.
Eyes and More grew into a chain of 27 stores in the Netherlands and 39 franchise stores in Germany, all established in city centres.
The group currently employs 292 people. In 2009, it achieved consumer sales of €16m.
