3VR Security, Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based provider of Intelligent Video Search and Analytics, has closed a $17m round in new financing.
The round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, DAG Ventures, and new investor Focus Ventures.
The company intends to use the new capital to continue to develop its intelligent video search and analytics technologies, which are designed to fight crime, ensure people’s safety and improve business efficiency, as well as to expand into global markets. To this end, 3VR recently added Aisling MacRunnels as chief marketing officer.

Today, the company has a large private video management deployment in the world, as well as the most accurate facial recognition technology on the market.
In 2010 the company has expanded their customer base, closed new partnerships with significant players in the security industry, including PSA Network, Arecont Vision, Convergint Technologies, AFN Security, Sureview Systems, Fiserv and Hi-Tech Solutions (HTS), and released new products, including the SmartRecorder ServerClass 100, a searchable video recorder.
