SolidFire Closes $11M Series A Funding

-

SolidFire, a Suwanee, GA-based cloud computing storage platform, has closed $11m Series A funding.
The round was led by New Enterprise Associates with participation from existing investors Valhalla Partners and Novak Biddle Venture Partners.
The funding, which follows a $1m seed round, will be used to expand the company in preparation for launch later this year. SolidFire has already opened an office in Boulder, Colorado and will hire engineering, marketing, and sales professionals (http://www.solidfire.com/jobs/).
In conjunction with the round, NEA General Partner Harry Weller will join the company’s board of directors alongside Valhalla General Partner Charles Curran and Novak Biddle General Partner Phil Bronner.
Also joining the board is former LeftHand Networks CEO Bill Chambers.
SolidFire offers a cloud-scale system that provides high performance primary storage for demanding public cloud and enterprise private cloud environments. The solution is designed to allow cloud providers and enterprises to reduce operational and storage management costs.
The company is currently conducting a beta program.
