SkyCross, a Viera, FL-based global developer and manufacturer of advanced 4G MIMO antenna solutions that are powering multiband, LTE, and HSPA+ wireless devices in the smartphone, home entertainment, and computing industries, has raised $11m in the first close of a Series E financing.
The company plans to close the second tranche of the round, up to $15m, by June.
SkyCross intends to use the capital, which is expected to be part of its the final round of equity financing, to support its business in Asia and the United States and accelerate rollout of 4G/LTE technology in consumer electronics devices.
Investors include DOCOMO Capital, the corporate venture arm of mobile operator NTT DOCOMO, existing shareholders TL Ventures, Investor Growth Capital, Gabriel Venture Partners, Intel Capital, and a group of individual backers.
Led by Ben Naskar, CEO and Chairman, SkyCross has RF technology and design expertise for wireless products, including tablets, smartphones, and multiband USB modems, which increasingly require multiple antennas, creative 3D design and manufacturing techniques, and 4G MIMO functionality for LTE.
The company operates regional design centers in China, Taiwan, Korea, and the United States.
