Acquia, a Woburn, MA-based provider of commercial solutions for Drupal, has completed a $15m Series D financing.
Investors include new backer Tenaya Capital and existing shareholders Northbridge Venture Partners and Sigma Partners.
The company intends to use the funding to expand internationally — particularly in Europe, and further invest in sales and marketing.
In conjunction with the funding, Brian Paul, Managing Partner of Tenaya Capital, will join Acquia’s board of directors.
Launched in 2008 and led by CEO Tom Erickson, the company has brought to market products, services and support to help enterprises use Drupal’s open source social publishing platform. Solutions include:
– Acquia Network, a subscription service that provides learning and productivity tools, and support for professionals who build and manage Drupal-based websites.
– Acquia Commons, a “social as a service” solution to create engaging community websites with more options,
– Acquia Cloud, a Drupal optimized Platform-as-a-Service cloud hosting offering
– Drupal Gardens, a Drupal-as-a-Service platform that makes building and contributing to Drupal websites easier and fast, with a library of site templates and packaged themes.
Clients include leading organizations such as Twitter, Al Jazeera, Mercedes-Benz, Stanford University, Intuit, and US Department of Defense.
