Motif Investing, a San Mateo, CA-based provider of an investment platform that enables individuals to invest in ideas, has raised $20m in Series B financing.
The round was led by Ignition Partners, with participation from existing investors Norwest Venture Partners and Foundation Capital. On July 7, Motif announced the close of a $6m Series A funding (read here).
The company intends to use the funds to build out and market its new investment platform, which is expected to launch in fall 2011.
Founded in early 2010 by former Microsoft executive Hardeep Walia and former hedge fund analyst Tariq Hilaly, Motif Investing’s new investment platform will enable individuals to invest in different portfolios of stocks — called “motifs” — that are centered around everyday ideas and that che be customized to meet an individual’s unique needs.
The company, which is now accepting beta users, is also hiring (http://motifinvesting.com/careers).
In conjunction with the funding, John Connors, general partner at Ignition Partners, has joined Motif’s board.
