Nimble Storage, a San Jose, CA-based developer of a converged storage and backup solution, has raised $25m in a Series D round of funding.
The round was led by Artis Capital Management, with participation from existing investors Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital.
The company intends to use the funds to expand sales internationally.
Founded by former Data Domain and NetApp executives Varun Mehta and Umesh Maheshwari amd led by CEO Suresh Vasudevan, Nimble Storage has developed a converged iSCSI storage, backup and disaster-recovery solution based on its patent-pending Cache Accelerated Sequential Layout (CASL™) architecture. It is designed to enable fast inline data compression, intelligent data optimization leveraging flash memory and high-capacity disk, instant optimized backups, and WAN-efficient replication in a single device.
