SurgiQuest, Inc., an Orange, CT-based manufacturer of access technology for minimally invasive surgery, has closed a $19m round of financing.
The round was led by River Cities Capital Funds, with participation from Fletcher Spaght Ventures, CMEA Ventures, California Technology Ventures, LLC, Aphelion Medical Fund and other existing investors.
SurgiQuest plans to use the funds to expand its sales efforts domestically and abroad.
Founded in May 2006 by CEO Kurt Azarbarzin, the company develops, manufactures and markets innovative access technology for minimally invasive surgery. Its patented AirSeal® Access System provides access to the abdominal cavity during minimally invasive surgery. It is designed to assure stable pneumoperitoneum, to evacuate smoke and plume when energized medical devices such as electrocautery, laser or ultrasound are used, and to provide valve-free access to the abdominal cavity during both laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures.
