Gild, a San Francisco, CA, Bangalore, India, and Beijing, China-based platform that allows developers to build, share, compare and improve their skills profiles, has closed a $2.4m round of funding.
The investment was led by Globespan Capital Partners.
In conjunction with the funding, Venky Ganesan, Globespan’s managing director, will join Gild’s Board of Directors.
Launched in September 2010 and led by CEO Sheeroy Desai, Gild provides developers worldwide with tools to rank themselves by solving real world coding puzzles, earn certifications that test for the application of coding knowledge and experience, and utilize a smart recommendations engine.
The company also launched a new visual interface and a series of new features that allow developers to promote skills, and compare to others.
According to a written statement, Gild has nearly half a million members from all over the world.
