MapR Technologies Inc., a San Jose, CA-based provider of an advanced distribution for Apache Hadoop, has secured $20m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from existing investors Lightspeed Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates (NEA).
The company intends to use the funds to continue to scale operations.
Led by CEO John Schroeder, MapR aims to make Hadoop more reliable, manageable and easier to use. Its distribution provides full HA support, native NFS access, snapshots, mirroring, and a full random read/write storage layer.
