TakeLessons, a San Diego-based music and voice lessons provider, has raised $6m in funding.
The round was led by Crosslink Capital, with participation from SofTech VC and other angel investors.
In conjunction with the fundingm, Eric Chin, partner at Crosslink Capital, will join the Board of Directors as part of the transaction.
Founded in 2006 by CEO Steven Cox, TakeLessons connects music students with an instructor that fit their needs in over 2,800 cities across the U.S. Scheduling and payment is managed by the platform, which then pays the teachers.
The company currently provides students with access to a roster of certified teachers in 35 music classes, including voice lessons, piano, drum, guitar, singing, saxophone, harp, mandolin, ukulele, harmonica and Flamenco guitar, DJ lessons, as well as music recording workshops, songwriting, speaking voice and music performance. TakeLessons also offers music programs for schools, government agencies, and community centers, as well as at-work lessons programs for corporate clients and their employees.
