Karmasphere, a Cupertino, CA-based provider of Big Data Intelligence software, has secured $6 million in a Series B round of funding.
The round was led by new investor Presidio Ventures, with participation from existing investors Hummer Winblad and US Venture Partners.
This brings the total amount raised by the company to date to $11m.
Karmasphere intends to use the capital to accelerate product roadmap and expand sales and marketing initiatives.
Launched in 2010 and led by CEO Gail Ennis, the company provides software for data and business analysts to mine and discover insights from Big Data on Hadoop (http://hadoop.apache.org/).
Hadoop is used to store big unstructured, interactional data being generated by web logs, machine-to-machine communications, mobile devices, video, social media and sensors.
