Zoove, a Palo Alto, CA-based company that offers “StarStar Numbers” to enable brands to connect with people on mobile phones, has raised $5m in funding from Rogers Ventures.
Zoove intends to use the funds, which are in addition to the $15m Round D funding the company recently announced (read here), to further accelerate its U.S. operations.
In conjunction with the funding, Mike Lee, Vice President of Rogers Ventures will join Zoove’s Board of Directors.
Rogers Ventures is the venture capital arm of Rogers Communications Inc., a Canadian provider of wireless voice and data communications, cable television, high-speed Internet and telephony services.
Led by President and CEO Joe Gillespie, Zoove provides StarStar numbers, which allows consumers to call the name of the brand they see being promoted (e.g. **BRAND) and the brand’s mobile app, Web page, coupon, videos, etc. can be pushed directly to their mobile phones – without the need to use bar code readers or disjointed text message short codes. They can be promoted as part of any marketing campaign, such as billboards, print or online ads, TV and radio commercials, consumer packaged goods, etc.
