Comprehend Systems Closes $1.2M in Seed Funding

Comprehend Systems, Inc., a Palo Alto, CA-based provider of clinical data reporting and visualization tool for the pharmaceutical industry, closed $1.2m in seed funding.

Backers include Y Combinator, Start Fund, SV Angel, Yuri Milner, Menlo Ventures Talent Fund, Paul Buchheit, Garry Tan, Quotidian Ventures and Crosslink Capital, as well as other angel investors.

The company intends to use the funds to further develop its software, Comprehend Clinical™, introducing new features and functionality based on customer feedback after beta-testing with pharmaceutical companies and academic research organizations.

Founded in 2010 and led by CEO Rick Morrison, Comprehend Systems aims to improve the way clinical research sponsors access, understand, explore and analyze data. Its first software product, Comprehend Clinical™, is a clinical data visualization and analytics software that integrates study data from different sources including electronic data capture (EDC), and clinical trial management systems (CTMS) into one visualization and analytics platform. The tool is designed to enable data managers, monitors and clinical operations executives to identify broad operational and clinical trends across trials and report on a wide range of factors, including safety issues, regulatory requirements, etc.
