Gogobot, a Menlo Park, CA-based social travel site, has raised $15m in funding.
The round was led by Redpoint Ventures, with participation from Battery Ventures and CrunchFund.
The company intends to use the funds to expand globally, by increasing its marketing and partnership efforts.
Launched in November 2010 and led by co-founder and CEO Travis Katz, Gogobot allows users to leverage their social network connections to exchange travel advice and share trip plans and rich visual travel memories.
People can browse reviews from friends, share their photos, reviews and other details about the places they stayed, dined, and traveled on the Web site.
The company recently launched a mobile app, available for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
In conjunction with the funding, Satish Dharmaraj, general partner of Redpoint Ventures, will join Gogobot’s board.
