HotelTonight Raises $9M in Series B Funding

-

HotelTonight, a San Francisco-based developer of a mobile app that offers discounted same-day hotel deals, has raised $9m in Series B funding.

The round was led by Battery Ventures, with continued participation from Accel Partners and First Round Capital.

The company plans to use the capital to expand the product to new mobile platforms, accelerate customer acquisition and expand into new global markets. Launched in January 2011, HotelTonight already has 1,000,000 downloads on iPhone and Android devices (the app is free).
Today, it is in 28 cities and will be in 35 markets by the end of the year, including Orange County, Portland, Salt Lake City and Santa Barbara.

Co-founded by CEO Sam Shankì, COO Jared Simon and CTO Chris Bailey, HotelTonight works with a select group of over 600 hotels to offer deep discounts (of up to 70%) on same-day bookings.

In conjunction with the funding, Accel Partners will join the company’s board and Dave Morin will have a seat as an advisor.

HotelTonight is currently hiring (http://www.hoteltonight.com/jobs).
