Own Point of Sale Corporation, a San Francisco, CA-and Detroit, MI-based social point of sale technology company, has raised a $1.2m seed funding.
The round was led by Detroit Venture Partners.
The company intends to use the funding for product development and hiring new staff. With the help of its investors, the company plans to expand their sales and customer service team in Detroit.
Founded in 2009 and led by CEO Rajeev Viswanathan, Own provides a social point of sale system that runs entirely on a tablet. It allows single or multi-location shops to connect with the company’s web-based point of sale cash register and credit card reader. Shop owners and managers can access their dashboard to manage business operations, including tracking, storing, and analyzing sales information.
Own’s solution also displays real-time Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare updates on the retailer’s screen, enabling them to interact, connect, and reward customers.
In conjunction with the funding, Jake Cohen (Detroit Venture Partners), will join the company’s board along with Bob Stefanski (Co-Founder, Tibco).
