BuzzFeed Raises $15.5M in Funding

BuzzFeed, a NYC-based online service that keeps track in realtime and aims to highlight the best new content, has raised $15.5m in funding.

The round was led by New Enterprise Associates, with participation from Lerer Ventures, Hearst Media, Softbank, and RRE.

In conjunction with the financing, Patrick Kerins, General Partner at NEA will join BuzzFeed’s board. Kenneth Lerer, Manager of Lerer Ventures and co-Founder of The Huffington Post, will expand his role, becoming executive chairman. Greg Coleman, President of Criteo and formerly President of The Huffington Post, has joined the company as an active advisor.
Led by Founder and CEO Jonah Peretti, BuzzFeed tracks the hottest, most social content on the web. The website – BuzzFeed.com – has 20m monthly visitors and a monitoring network of sites including, The Huffington Post, Time, Life, and AOL.
