DocBookMD, an Austin, Texas-based start up that provides an innovative platform designed to help physicians communicate with their colleagues using mobile technology, has raised $2.2m in seed funding.
Backers include unnamed private investors involved in the healthcare industry.
The company intends to use the capital to expand its service, which is currently used by physicians in more than 20 states.
Led by CEO Dr. Tim Gueramy, an orthopedic surgeon, CMO Dr. Tracey Haas, a family physician, and COO Ray Wolf, DocBookMD has developed a smartphone platform that provides an exclusive, HIPAA-compliant professional network for doctors to exchange text, photos, charts, X-rays and other information.
It is available for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android phones.
