Halfpenny Technologies, Inc., a Blue Bell, Pa.-based provider of clinical data integration solutions specializing in laboratory, pathology and physician electronic health record (EHR) system interoperability, has raised $2.25m in venture capital funding.
The round was co-led by Vital Financial and Emerald Stage2 Ventures, with participation from existing investors Osage Venture Partners, Milestone Venture Partners, and LORE Associates.
The company intends to use the funding to expands its lab and EHR integration offering for hospitals, labs, physicians, payors, HIEs, and regional extension centers.
Led by CEO Tim Kowalski, Halfpenny Technologies provides a platform that enables computerized order entry (CPOE) and results reporting interfaces between hospitals, laboratories and physician EHR systems. It also fulfills downstream requirements for viewing normalized, LOINC-mapped (Logical Observation Identifiers, Names and Codes) data for chronic disease management and other population health management goals.
Halfpenny also offers a Web-based portal designed to enable physicians to order laboratory procedures and review results and mobile results reporting solution to enable hospitals and labs to provide physicians with alerts and results reporting on platforms including the Apple iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry.
