Unitus Seed Fund, a new seed stage venture fund that invests in Indian startup businesses with potential for large-scale poverty impact, has been launched by Unitus Labs, an international non-profit focused on reducing global poverty through economic self-empowerment.
Led by Managing Director Dave Richards, CEO of Unitus Labs, the fund targets investments in businesses serving Indian markets, with the potential for scaled impact on 800 million people in the country living on less than $2 per day, with a strong and experienced management team, a business developed beyond the concept stage, a clearly differentiated value propositional and strategies to build effective distribution and marketing programs.
Unitus Seed Fund has also announced its first investments in:
– Bodhicrew Services, which provides skill development and job placement services (read here),
– Hippocampus Learning Centres, which provides affordable rural education services (read here)
– Milaap Social Ventures, which provides microcredit financial services (read here)
