ViVOtech, a Santa Clara, Calif.-based near field communication (NFC) software and systems company, has held a first closing of its Series D funding round.
The company intends to use the funding, whose amount was not disclosed, to increase the adoption for its solutions worldwide.
Founded in 2001 and led by executive chairman Michael “Mick” Mullagh, ViVOtech provides the key building blocks of the NFC ecosystem (smart applications for enhancing the customer experience, trusted service manager (TSM) software, and point of sale systems) to provide rich mobile commerce solutions for in-store payment, loyalty, marketing, and merchandising.
Its software and Point-of-Sale (POS) technologies are used by financial services firms, mobile carriers, smartphone OEMs and online players such as the Google Wallet, and integrated with Isis mCommerce solutions.
Investors in the company include Alloy Ventures, Citi Ventures, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, EDBI, First Data Corp., Miven Ventures, Motorola Solutions Ventures, Motorola Mobility Ventures, Nokia Growth Partners, NCR, SingTel Innov8 and Sprint.
