Cherry Raises $4.5M in Series A Funding

-

Cherry, a San Francisco-based on-demand carwash startup, has raised $4.5m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Shasta Ventures, with participation from Founders Fund and a group of angel investors including Bill Lee, Shervin Pishevar, David Sacks and Keith Rabois.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its service nationally. It is launching today in San Jose, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Cupertino, and Mountain View.

Led by co-founder and CEO Travis VanderZanden, Cherry provides on-demand carwash services to customers anywhere they park. For $29.99, users download the app, locate their car, press “wash my car now”, and Cherry sends their closest car wash professional to wash the car. The company has just released a new iPhone app, with a Android app to come in about a month.

In conjunction with the funding, Tod Francis of Shasta will join the Cherry’s board.
