Varsity, a Grand Rapids, MI-based News Network that is developing custom, online high school sports publications, has raised funding from the Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund.
The company intends to use the funding to expand its commercialization efforts. It is hiring a Sales & Marketing Account Executive (http://varsitynewsnetwork.com/were-hiring/).
Launched in July of 2010 through Momentum-MI, a local venture firm founded by Rick Devos, the Varsity News Network is a collaborative effort between traditional and community sports journalists to provide media coverage for every high school sport, from football to field hockey.
The Michigan Pre-Seed Capital Fund is an equity vehicle that invests in technology-based companies to support business formation and acceleration. Ann Arbor SPARK serves as the Fund’s administrator.
