Dropcam, Inc., a San Francisco-based developer of an HD Wi-Fi video monitoring camera, has raised $12m in Series B funding.
The round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors Accel Partners and Bay Partners.
The company intends to use the capital to grow its software engineering team in San Francisco (https://www.dropcam.com/jobs) as well as expand manufacturing operations globally.
Founded in 2009 by CEO Greg Duffy, Dropcam offers the Dropcam HD Wi-Fi Video Monitoring Camera, which is designed to allow users to monitor their homes directly from a computer, tablet or smartphone. The additional cloud-based Dropcam DVR tools record, monitor, and alert users of movements and sounds picked up by the Dropcam HD camera.
The company’s native Android app is now live in the Google Play Store.
