Sparrow, a “minimalist” mail application for Mac, has been acquired by Google (NASDAQ: GOOG).
According to reports (read here), the sum of deal amounted to under $25m.
Sparrow is joining the Gmail team (on August 24, 2012) and will continue to make the application available and provide support for users.
Founded in 2010 by CTO Hoa Dinh Viet and CEO Dominique Leca, Sparrow integrates a proprietary mail engine (based on Etpan/Hermod) and aims at improving the mail experience on Mac. Features include threads, labels, quick reply, multiple accounts, inline attachments, and notifications.
