CakeStyle, a Chicago, IL-based virtual styling service that sends clothing and accessories to customer’s homes, has raised $1m in seed funding.
The round was led by Sandbox Industries’ Sandbox Advantage Fund.
The company intends to use the capital to to grow brand awareness and increase service adoption across the country.
Co-founded in August 2011 by CEO Cecelia Myers and Millie Tadewaldt, CakeStyle provides women who don’t have time to shop but want to look stylish and professional every day with virtual styling services. After a consultation with a stylist over the phone or online, women receive a box of handpicked clothing and accessories to their homes, along with a personalized video explaining each look. Clients keep what they like and send back the rest, paying only for the items they keep.
