Typesafe, a Menlo Park, CA-based modern software platform that allows developers to build scalable software applications in Java and Scala, has closed a $14m Series B funding.
The round was led by Shasta Ventures, with participation from Juniper Networks (through its Junos® Innovation Fund), as well as existing investors Greylock Partners and François Stieger.
The company intends to use the new funds to continue to develop its stack and expand operations and their partner ecosystem.
Led by Chairman and Chief Architect Martin Odersky and by Mark Brewer, CEO, Typesafe provides scalable software platform designed for multicore and parallel computing architectures and cloud applications.
Its stack is a 100% Java compatible software suite that combines the Akka middleware framework, the Play web framework, and the Scala programming language, proven in production with highly trafficked web properties including Foursquare, LinkedIn and Twitter.
The company’s Typesafe Subscription complements the Typesafe Stack with commercial support, maintenance, and operations tools.
Typesafe also offers training and consulting services for organizations to ease adoption of Akka, Play, and Scala.
In conjunction with the funding, Shasta Ventures Managing Director Jason Pressman has joined the company’s board.
