Sand 9, Inc., a Cambridge, MA-based developer of precision MEMS timing products for wireless and wired applications, has received a $3m investment from publicly traded Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC).
Formed in 2007 and led by Vince Graziani, CEO, Sand 9 leverages its precision MEMS platform to offer MEMS timing products designed to enhance quality and performance, offering greater immunity to electromagnetic interference (EMI) and vibration in combination with low noise and high stability, which ensures precision timing—even in ruggedized environments, and advantages over legacy quartz crystal solutions, which currently dominate this market.
Timing devices are at the core of all electronic applications, which include wireline communications infrastructure and cellular base stations, as well as mobile and wireless applications.
