Expect Labs, a San Francisco, CA-based startup that is building n innovative conversation platform, has closed a $2.4m funding round.
Backers include KPG Ventures, IDG Ventures, Google Ventures, Greylock Partners, Bessemer Venture Partners, Quest Venture Partners and angel investors such as Naval Ravikant, Gil Elbaz and Don Hutchison.
The company intends to use the capitaL to scale its technology infrastructure and launch the MindMeld Developer Platform, scheduled for release early next year.
In conjunction with the investment, Vince Vannelli, managing partner of KPG Ventures, has joined the company’s board of directors. Alex Rosen, managing director of IDG Ventures, also joined as a board observer.
Co-founded in early 2011 by Tim Tuttle and Moninder Jheeta, Expect Labs is the maker of an iPad voice and video calling app, called MindMeld, which can understand conversations in real-time to make it easy to find and share related information as users talk. The company’s platform, called the Anticipatory Computing Engine, was designed and built to continuously analyze multi-party conversations to extract their underlying meaning.
