Splice Machine, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of an SQL-compliant database designed for Big Data applications, has raised $4m in Series A funding from Mohr Davidow Ventures.
The company intends to use the funding to continue the development of the Splice SQL Engine™.
Developed on the Hadoop stack, Splice Machine’s Splice SQL Engine aims to enable application developers to build hyper-personalized web, mobile and social applications while leveraging SQL tools and skill sets in the marketplace. The engine also enables business intelligence and analysis with tools such as MicroStrategy® and Tableau®.
Led by co-founder and CEO, Monte Zweben, the company’s team also include:
– Chief Technology Officer, John Leach;
– Vice President of Products and Operations, Gene Davis;
– Vice President of Product Management, Rich Reimer; and
– Senior Software Architect, Jessie Zhang.
