10gen, the New York, NY- and Palo Alto, CA-based company behind NoSQL database MongoDB, has received a strategic investment of undisclosed amount from Intel Capital and Red Hat, a provider of open source solutions.
The company intends to use the funds to further invest in product development for MongoDB and expand support for its community and user base.
Led by Max Schireson, president, 10gen is the developer of MongoDB, an open-source, document-oriented database that used by developers and IT professionals for new applications in the cloud and beyond. The company supports the global MongoDB community and provides commercial subscriptions, support, consulting and training plus a free, cloud-based MongoDB monitoring service called MMS.
