Kaltura, a NYC-based open source video platform, had raised $25m in funding.
Backers include new investors Mitsui & Co. Global Investment, Inc., and ORIX Ventures, and existing investors Nexus Venture Partners, Intel Capital, .406 Ventures and Avalon Ventures.
The company intends to use the capital to expand to expand their product offering, and to grow into additional industries and geographies (mainly in the Asia-Pacific region).
Led by Ron Yekutiel, Chairman and CEO, Kaltura offers a suite of commercial video applications as well as an open-source development platform that includes extendible APIs.
The company’s applications and platform enable video workflows, including ingestion, transcoding, management, distribution, publishing, engagement, monetization, and extensive analytics.
The platform is supported by a large global developer community of more than 40,000 members (http://www.kaltura.org).
The company’s solutions can be deployed either on-premise or on any public or private cloud (including Kaltura’s own SaaS cloud), and are supported on any device including PCs, tablets, smartphones, set-top-boxes and connected devices.
Kaltura sells products and services directly to organizations, as well as via distributors and OEMs, such as InterCall and Blackboard.
