Syntellia, a San Francisco, CA-based company that has developed keyboard application technology Fleksy, has raised $900k in seed funding.
Backers include, among others, Piedmont RIA through its affiliate Militello Capital, Thanos Triant (investor in Seagate, Postini), Edith Yeung (Right Ventures, Dolphin Browser), John Schappert (former COO of Zynga), Fortify.VC.
The company intends to use the capital to accelerate sales and strategic partnerships and provide resources for cross platform development.
Co-founded by CEO Kostas Eleftheriou and COO Ioannis Verdelis, Syntellia is the company behind Fleksy, an innovative technology which makes typing text on a touch-screen easy. The iPhone app, which uses the QWERTY layout, is used by blind and visually impaired people.
It currently supports US English but the company plans to integrate other languages including Spanish, French and Italian in the future, as well as to support more platforms such as Android and Windows Phone 8, and develop an iPad version.
