ClearStory Data, a Palo Alto, Calif.-based startup that provides a new big data solution that allows business users to find, combine and interactively analyze data from corporate sources and disparate third-party sources, has closed a $9m Series A financing.
Backers include Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and Google Ventures. In conjunction with the funding, Mike Abbott, general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, has joined ClearStory’s Data Board of Directors.
Founded by Sharmila Shahani-Mulligan, CEO, and Vaibhav Nivargi, the company provides business users with a solution to easily discover, analyze and consume data at scale from corporate, web and premium data sources for combined and up-to-date insights.
Data sources include relational databases, Hadoop, Web and social application interfaces, and third-party data providers.
